Report on an archival investigation on the farms Zwartkop 369 KQ, Schilpadsnest 385 KQ and Moddergat 389 KQ, Limpopo Province
Summary
Archaetnos cc was requested by the WITS HERITAGE CONTRACTS UNIT to conduct an archival investigation of the farms Zwartkop 369 KQ, Schilpadsnest 385 KQ and Moddergat 389 KQ, in the Limpopo Province. This reports deals with the findings after a survey has been conducted in the Deeds Office in Pretoria, the Office of the Surveyor-General as well as the National Archives Repository in Pretoria.
Unfortunately the old farm registers could not be located. It was therefore not possible to determine when these farms were established. Without the basic deeds information it also is very difficult to obtain information from the other two archives as the basic information gives clues on the correct old farm numbers etc. (there usually is more than one farm with the same name).
The little information that could be obtained is however presented in this report.
