A report on a cultural heritage impact assessment for the proposed construction of a part of the Magalakwena power line, Northwest Province

Summary

Archaetnos cc was appointed by Texture Environmental Solutions to conduct a cultural heritage impact assessment for a portion of the proposed of the Magalakwena power line. The northern portion was investigated earlier and this only now concentrates on the southern portion. This is close to Madibeng (Brits) in the Northwest Province. Two options for the route were surveyed.

The fieldwork undertaken revealed no sites of cultural heritage significance. This is probably due to the extensive disturbance of the area by farming and mining activities.

During the earlier work it was proposed that Option 1 be the final route as it is the route of preference. Now option 3 is chosen, again because it is the route of preference. This report is seen as ample mitigation. The proposed development may therefore continue.
