A final report on a heritage impact assessment (HIA)on portion 1 of erf 151 Hatfield Pretoria, Gauteng Province
Archaetnos cc was appointed by PlanPractice Town Planners, on behalf of the Canadian High Commission, to conduct a Heritage Impact Assessment on Portion 1 of Erf 151 Hatfield, Pretoria. The Canadian High Commission obtained the property and is of the intention to demolish the old dwelling house on the subject property in order to develop a new vehicular entrance to the High Commission site, including a laneway and temporary parking and to construct a new guardhouse thereon. A demolition permit is therefore required depending on the results and findings of the Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) and the Public Participation process that had to be undertaken. This final report indicates the process followed and the results of this undertaking.
Based on the assessment of the old dwelling house and related features, as well as the results of the Public Participation, it is recommended that the proposed development continue. It is therefore requested that a Demolition Permit be issued for the development by SAHRA.
