A report on a heritage impact assessment for the proposed reuse of a building at the Cullinan Mall, Gauteng ProvinceSummary
Archaetnos cc was appointed by Steven Crawford Architects to conduct a heritage impact assessment for the proposed reuse of a building at the Cullinan Mall. This is in the town of Cullinan, Gauteng Province.
The project entails the reuse of a building, older than 60 years, as storage or retail space. Details of the proposed changes is not yet available, but the HIA is also used to provide guidelines to this effect.
Although older than 60 years, the house had undergone many changes and therefore only has a limited heritage significance. Proposals for the preservation of the most important architectural elements are made.
It is recommended that this report be approved by the PHRA-G and that these guidelines be implemented. The development may therefore continue.
The applicable social consultation has also been done, consisting of site notices and newspaper advertisements. No comments were received.
It is therefore recommended that the HIA be approved.
