A report on a Phase II cultural heritage impact assessment for three buildings on portion 385 of the farm Waterkloof 305 JQ, Rustenburg, North West ProvinceSummary
Archaetnos cc was requested by Hydro Science to conduct a cultural heritage impact assessment (HIA) for a proposed mixed development on portion 385 of the farm Waterkloof 305 JQ. This is in Rustenburg in the North West province.
During this study, three buildings with medium heritage value were identified. The client indicated that these should be demolished. The Phase I Heritage Impact Assessment indicated that demolition may be allowed, but that mitigation measures should be implemented. The proposed development may continue after implementation of these.
The mitigation recommended that a Phase II report should be done, documenting these buildings. This report is the result of the Phase II study. Documentation was done via line drawings and taking photographs of the most important features of these buildings.
It is also important to take cognizance that it is the client’s responsibility to do the submission of this report and the demolition application to the Provincial Heritage Resources Agency of the Northwest Province. No work on site may commence before receiving the necessary approval from them.
