Summary
Archaetnos cc was requested by EIM, on behalf of Lombard Du Preez Land Surveyors/Town Planners to conduct a cultural heritage impact assessment on the remaining extent of portions 255 and 712 of the farm Roodekopjes of Zwartkopjes 427 JQ. The development of Brits Extension 130 is being proposed.
The fieldwork undertaken revealed a number of old historic houses in this mostly built-up environment. No sites, features or objects of any archaeological significance were found. It is recommended that the proposed development continue, but with the prerequisite that a qualified architectural historian assess the significance of the historical structures before destruction of these is undertaken.
