Summary
Archaetnos cc was requested by Imvelo Environmental Impact Management Services to conduct a cultural heritage impact assessment for the proposed Secunda western development in the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality. This is in the Mpumalanga Province.
The fieldwork undertaken revealed five sites of cultural heritage significance on the area to be developed. Some of these are of high cultural significance. The planned development also has a direct impact on these. The report indicates how to deal with this.
Suitable mitigation measures are proposed. Once these have been implemented, the proposed development may continue.
