Archaetnos cc was requested by BHP Billiton (DMO Projects) and Jones & Wagener, to investigated the discovery of a cemetery and the existence of possible other graves, near a borrow pit on a portion of the farm Wolvekrans 17 IS on Douglas Colliery, near Witbank, Mpumalanga. The aim of the investigation was to document the known graves and to determine if the others were indeed graves or not. Secondly, recommendations on how to preserve the grave sites were to be put forward.
Work on the borrow pit can continue, taking into consideration the recommendations put forward at the end of the document.
