Summary
Archaetnos cc was requested by Central Rand Gold to investigate the discovery of a possible grave (headstone), located at their operating GEKKO Plant. The site is located on portion 2 of the farm Paardekraal 226 IQ, in Roodepoort, Gauteng.
The investigation aimed at determining whether or not the stone discovered was indeed a headstone for a grave and if a grave existed. Recommendations regarding possible mitigation measures were then to be made. The investigation revealed that a foundation stone were discovered, but that it might not be for a grave. However, as it is difficult to determine without a doubt based on our surface investigations, a number of recommendations are put forward at the end of this report. Development work in the vicinity of the discovery can continue once these mitigation measures have been undertaken and completed successfully.
