Archaetnos cc was appointed by Plumari Group, in conjunction with Plan Enviro cc, to conduct a heritage impact assessment on portion 73 ? 76 of the farm Zwartkop 525 JQ, near Muldersdrif in Gauteng. This is for a proposed Equestrian Estate development on the property.
In the area to be impacted upon by the proposed development one site of cultural heritage significance was found, dating to the recent Historical Age. The report provides a discussion of the site, an indication of the methodology followed and gives recommendations on how to mitigate the impact of development on it. It also indicates how to deal with any other archaeological material that may be unearthed during construction activities in the future.
The site is of medium to high cultural significance, and certain mitigation measures needs to be implemented to minimize any negative impacts on it. Once these measures have been implemented, and the conclusions and recommendations at the end of the report have been taken into cognizance, the development may continue.
