A REPORT ON A HERITAGE IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR A PROPOSED OFFICE AND RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT ON ERVEN 111, 119 AND 120, HAZELWOOD, CITY OF TSHWANE, GAUTENG PROVINCE
Archaetnos cc was appointed by Swart & Associates Architects to conduct a heritage impact assessment for a proposed development on Erven 111, 119 and 120 in Hazelwood. This is in the City of Tshwane, Gauteng Province.
The project firstly entails the consolidation of the three erven, then the demolition of existing buildings on the properties and hereafter an office and residential development. This consist of a ground plus 5 stories. The erven are adjacent to one another, but all in different streets, namely Erf 111 in 39 Elandslaagte Road, Erf 119 in 33 Dely Road and Erf 120 in 40 Highlands Road.
Only one of the existing buildings on the properties are older than 60 years but has been adapted over the years to such an extent that it has no inherent heritage importance left. Also, nothing else of heritage importance was noted.
The applicable social consultation has also been done, consisting of site notices and newspaper advertisements. No comments were received.
The development may therefore continue. It is recommended that this HIA report be approved by the PHRA-G and that the demolition of the existing buildings on the three properties be approved.
