Archaetnos cc was appointed by Pregio Investment 7cc to conduct a Heritage Impact Assessment for the proposed Diepsloot Wetland Rehabilitation Project. This is located in Diepsloot, Johannesburg in the Gauteng Province. This report deals with the findings of the survey.
During the survey no sites of heritage importance were noted. This is no surprise as the area is extremely disturbed by recent human interventions. The proposed development may therefore continue.
It should however be noted that the subterranean presence of archaeological and/or historical sites, features or artifacts is always a distinct possibility. Care should therefore be taken when the development commences that if any of these are discovered, a qualified archaeologist be called in to investigate.
