A REPORT ON AN ASSESSMENT OF ERF 89, TREVENNA, CITY OF TSHWANE, GAUTENG PROVINCE
Archaetnos cc was appointed by EMENDO to assess the heritage importance of Erf 89, Trevenna, Pretoria. It is known that there is a heritage building on site and the assessment is needed to assist with the planning for future developments on site. This is in the City of Tshwane, Gauteng Province.
The site was visited, and a basic documentation of the site and building was done. This is coupled with basic background information in order to determine the heritage significance thereof.
It is concluded that the building indeed is of high heritage significance. The development therefore should be done in such a way as to not encroach on the building and have a negative effect on its heritage significance. Guidelines for this is given. These may be used in the planning for future developments on site.
It should be noted that the development on site should undergo a process of approval from the Provincial Heritage Resources Authority of Gauteng (PHRA-G). A Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) should be done once the final plans are available. This report, however will provide most of the information needed in such an HIA.
