A report on a heritage impact assessment for a proposed township development on portion 13 of the farm Kraalkop 147 IQ, Fochville, Gauteng
Summary
Archaetnos cc was appointed by K2M Technologies, in conjunction with Townscape Planning Solutions, to conduct a heritage impact assessment on Portion 13 of the farm Kraalkop 147 IQ, in Fochville in Gauteng. A township development (Fochville Extension 10) is being proposed.
In the area to be impacted upon by the proposed development a number of sites of cultural heritage significance were found, dating to the recent Late Iron Age period. The report gives a discussion of these sites and also gives an indication of the methodology followed. It also indicates how to deal with any archaeological material that may be unearthed during future development activities.
The sites are of medium to high cultural significance. Mitigation measures to minimize the impact of the development on these sites are put forward at the end of this report. Once these have been implemented the development can continue.
