A report on a cultural heritage impact assessment for the proposed mining activities on a portion of portions 43, 44, 125, 130, 144, 157 and 169 of the farm Bultfontein 475 JQ, Northwest Province
Summary
Archaetnos cc was requested by Quarryquip (Pty) Ltd to conduct a cultural heritage impact assessment for the proposed new mining areas at their site. This is situated on different portions of the farm Bultfontein 475 JQ, close to the town of Hekpoort. Although the town is in Gauteng, the site is in the Northwest Province.
The fieldwork undertaken revealed three sites of cultural heritage significance on the area to be developed on the property. None of these are of high cultural significance. The planned development also has a direct impact on one of these. The report indicates how to deal with these sites.
The proposed development may continue as this report is seen as suitable mitigation measures.
