Report on a desktop study for a pre-feasibility assessment regarding the expansion of existing hospitals and site selection for new hospitals in the Limpopo Province
Summary
Archaetnos cc was requested by Bohlweki-SSI Environmental to conduct a desktop study with regard to the pre-feasibility assessment for the expansion of existing hospitals and site selection for new hospitals in the Limpopo Province. This reports deals with the information obtained in this regard.
Sources that were used include a variety of literature sources, databases and unpublished reports. A vast amount of information was collected. However this only indicate the known sites, features and structures that were published by scholars or that have been identified via different heritage related processes and surveys.
The lack of information on certain areas does not indicate that no heritage exist here, but only that no heritage related surveys were conducted here. No specific information could be obtained regarding the 45 sites applicable to this study. As indicated this may only be since it was not surveyed. Such a heritage survey should therefore be conducted before any further development will be allowed.
